LIGONIER — Mildred Harriet Gard, 97, of North Webster died unexpectedly at 10:42 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010, in Bradenton, Fla., following a brief illness.
Mrs. Gard had been a lifetime area resident. She was a dedicated homemaker and had worked on the family farm.
She was a member of the Cromwell United Methodist Church and Gideon International Auxiliary.
Mrs. Gard was born December 29, 1912, in Wawaka, Ind., to Frank and Veda Fay Franks. She married Delbert D. Gard in Wawaka on June 15, 1935. He preceded her in death in April 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Fay and Arthur Iden of North Webster, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jeff Iden of North Webster, Kathy and Larry Wilder of Indianapolis, Brenda Parr of Indianapolis, Susan Mangold of Bowling Green, Ky., and Steve Gard of Sadieville, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Josh and Rachel Iden of Indianapolis, Krystal Wilder, Kari Wilder, Samantha Mangold, Stephanie Mangold and Sydney Mangold; and three siblings, Tom Franks of Wawaka, Mary and Howard Berkes of New Bremen, Ohio, and Ann and Don Connors of South Bend.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmie (Nancy) Gard; and three sisters, Thora (Elwood) Cotner, Coy (Lester) Keefer and Jane (Steve) Clark.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Cromwell United Methodist Church in Cromwell, Ind. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Ind.
