N. Joan Doll, age 87, of Cromwell, IN passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was born on October 22, 1923 in Cromwell, IN to Ben and Annabelle (Kring) Archer. On June 20, 1942 she married Herman (Mike) Doll. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1992.
Mrs. Doll worked at Wirk Garment in Cromwell and Lyal Electric in Ligonier. She was a dedicated stay at home mother and farmer’s wife most of her married life. She worked in the West Noble School cafeteria for 20 years before retiring from there.
She was a past member of the Women’s Civic Club of Ligonier, the Young at Heart Line Dancers, and was currently a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She also belonged to the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. In her spare time she loved to read, listen to music, and play her organ. Most of all, she was proud of being a great cook.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Rhoads of Plant City, FL; a son, Michael H. (Linda) Doll of North Webster, IN; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Levi Archer and Dallas Archer.
A funeral service will be held in Mrs. Doll’s honor on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 with Pastor Harlan Steffen and Pastor Jean Ness officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN following the funeral service.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home.
