LIGONIER — Mildred “Mid” Marie Kettlebar, 85, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 in Goshen General Hospital, Goshen, following an extended illness.
She was a lifelong area resident, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after over 35 years of service.
She loved to travel, and was an avid Cubs and Indiana University fan. She enjoyed gardening, caring for dogs and birds, and was an avid reader.
On Sept. 15, 1925, she was born in Ligonier to John and Alice (Adair) Kettlebar.
Survivors include: a sister, Mary Alice Rex of Port Royal, S.C.; multiple nieces and nephews including her special caregivers, Carol (Steve) Reed of South Whitley, Ind., Dawn Wiley of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Marcia (Larry) Yoder of Ligonier. Other nieces and nephews include: Dixie (Kenneth) Soice, Kathy Kettlebar, Sharon (Ted) Johnson, Michael (Rose) Kettlebar, Randy (Sandra) Wiley, Doug Wiley, Ben Glaser, Heidi Johnson, Tony (Joanne) Rex and Lynn Rex Smith.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, five brothers, Wilbur, Alvin, Calvin, Tom and Max Kettlebar, and two sisters, Wanda Wiley and Clotha Glaser.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas, Ind., with celebrant Larry Baker officiating.
