Edna Esther Gingerich, age 86, of West, TX, formerly an area resident, passed away on November 6, 2010 in Waco, TX at 4:56 PM due to natural causes. Edna was born on March 22, 1924 to Dan C. and Ida Miller in Hutchinson, KS. On September 16, 1944 she married Joseph Gingerich and together they shared 66 years of marriage.
Edna was a resident of Yoder, KS until the age of 16. She then moved to Indiana where she was a resident of Cromwell and Goshen until later moving to Waco, TX.
Mrs. Gingerich was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church in Topeka, IN for 47 years, Zion Chapel in Goshen, IN for 15 years, and after moving to Texas, attended Grace Gospel Church in Axtell for a few years, and recently attended Open Door of Waco, TX.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Gingerich of West, TX; two sisters, Anna Mae Hooley and Dora Troyer; four sons, Ronald Gingerich of St. Louis, MO, Ginny Gingerich of Captiva, FL, James & Eileen Gingerich of Lake Wawasee, Roger & Eleanor Gingerich of Steinbeck Manitoba, Canada, and Joe & Maria Gingerich of West Tx; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jake Miller and Calvin Miller.
There will be a funeral service held in her honor on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Maple Grove Church- 806 S. Main St., Topeka, IN with Pastor Harold Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka, IN.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the funeral service at Maple Grove Church in Topeka, IN. Memorial contributions are to Gideons International- P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
