Anna Louise Furkis

Anna Louise Furkis, age 86, of Ligonier passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 8:25 PM at Avalon Village in Ligonier from natural causes.

Louise was born on September 23, 1924 to William and Elizabeth (Owens) Furkis in LaPorte, Indiana. She was an area resident since 1932, coming from LaPorte.

Louise obtained her master's degree in education from Indiana University. She retired from West Noble School Corporation after 38 years of service where she had worked as a school teacher and principal. Louise was also a member of the Ligonier United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy (William) Foster of Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Replogle and Peter James Furkis.

A funeral service will be held in her honor on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 2 PM at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
