Robert "Jake" L. Hite

Robert “Jake” Hite, age 75, of Ligonier passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at his residence as the result of natural causes.

Robert was born on May 29, 1935 in Ligonier, IN to Harold & Oakey (Switzer) Hite. He graduated from Ligonier High School in 1953 and went on to serve his country honorably in the United State Army from 1958 to 1961. On June 30, 1962 he married Ruth Renner, she survives.

Mr. Hite was a lifelong area resident. He worked for Johnson controls for 45 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting with his dad and step-mother, fishing and camping. Mr. Hite also worked on the ambulance for 5 years & was a member of the CB Radio Club.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ruth Hite of Ligonier; daughters, Amy Griffith and friend Mike Adams of Syracuse, Sandy (DeWayne) Bontrager of Ligonier, Betty Conwell of Columbia City, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his step-brother Robert McNamara of Stroh. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother.

A funeral service will be held Monday October 25, 2010 at 3PM at Yeager Funeral Home- 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Friends may call from 12 Noon until 3PM prior to the funeral service on Monday. Internment will take place in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, IN.
