Harper F. Peck

Harper F. Peck, age 81, of Cromwell, IN passed away December 26, 2009 at 1:25 PM at Avalon Village in Ligonier.

He was born December 29, 1927 in Pennsylvania to the late Robley Peck & Alverta (Scouten) Earnhart. On October 15, 1976 in Syracuse, IN he married Darlene Rogers she survives.

On December 7, 1944 at the age of 17 he joined the Merchant Marines. He later served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-52. During his time of service he traveled through 30 countries. He was a member of Sparta United Church of Christ, American Legion in Ligonier Post 243, & Cromwell Kimmell Lions club. He was also a member for over 50 years of the Free & Accepted Masons & currently belonged to the Cromwell Lodge #705. He retired as a maintenance supervisor from Essex in Columbia City. Prior to his retirement he had worked as a tool & die maker & also as a plant supervisor.

Mr. Peck is survived by his wife: Darlene Peck of Cromwell; 2 Sons: Harper K. (Martie) Peck Wauseon, OH, Breen L. (Jasy) Peck of Manassas, VA; 1 Daughter: Dianna (Gary) Selvey of Albany, IN; 2 Stepdaughters: Stephanie K. Horan & Karen L. (Colby) Denman of Cromwell, IN; 12 Grandchildren & 5 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Brother: Robert Peck, & Step-Father: Orris Earnhart.

A funeral service will be held on December 30, 2009 at 10AM at Yeager Funeral Home-1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Curryanne Hostetler of Sparta United Church of Christ will officiate.

Friends may call Tuesday December 29, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home with a Masonic service to be held at 8 PM following the visitation. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN with military honors to be conducted at the graveside.
