Laila Jean Longstreth

TOPEKA — Laila Jean Longstreth, 78, of Topeka died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 8:27 p.m. at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange, after a brief illness.

She was born May 6, 1931, in Murraysville, W.V. to William G. & Myrtle (Hughes) Boggs. On Sept. 6, 1983, she married Robert Longstreth; he survives.

She moved to the area in 1991, coming from Lakeview, Ohio. She worked for Sears for 22 years and was involved in the trucking business with her husband until their retirement in 1992. She was a wonderful grandmother, enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Longstreth of Topeka; six children, Robert (Barbara) Bever of Athens, Tenn., Karen (David) Richter of Merced, Calif., Ronald (Mary) Bever of Akron, Ohio, Sherry (Michael) Burley of Clinton, Ohio, Sandra (Samuel) Smith of Akron, Ohio and Debra Mast of Wolcottville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, MargaretMilhoan of Murraysville, Leila June Gorrell of Akron, Ohio and Billy Irene Rardin of Lamont, Iowa; and six stepchildren, Robert Longstreth Jr. of Courtland, Ohio, Daniel Longstreth of Lakeview, Ohio, Bonnie Longstreth of Warren, Ohio,Tommy Longstreth of Warren, Ohio Lucille Longstreth, Newton Falls, Ohio, & Debra White of Warren, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and one brother, Jake Boggs.

Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Maple Grove Church, 806 S. Main St., Topeka, with Pastor Harold Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at Eden Cemetery, Topeka.
