John A. Marsh, age 68, of Kimmell, IN, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on October 20, 1948 the son of Everett and Inez (Cleland) Marsh in Kendallville, IN. On January 17, 1969 he married Vicki Mangus.
John was a very hard worker all of his life. Together with his wife, they farmed for over 40 years and raised a beautiful family. He also worked in the fuel distribution industry for over 32 years and owned and operated J & V Oil in Albion, IN from 1975-1993. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion, IN, DHIA, Northeast Garden Tractor Association; Indiana Tractor Pullers Association, Dekalb County Horseman’s Association, and was very involved in the Noble County 4H and also served on the Fair board.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Marsh of Kimmell, IN; three daughters, Angela (Chad) Sheets of Albion, IN, Laura Cripe of Kendallville, IN, and Karri Maxwell of Marengo, WI; ten grandchildren; and two siblings, Sally (Doug) Fought of Topeka, IN, and Jack (Denise) Marsh of Ligonier, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Odier in 1978; and his son, Tracy Marsh in 2011.
A funeral service will be held in John’s honor on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 North Orange Street, Albion, IN 46701. Pastor Brett Frymier will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, IN.
Family and friends will be received from 2-8 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church and also from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Dekalb County Horseman’s Association.
