Barbara Jean Lengacher

Barbara Jean (Vance) Lengacher, age 70, of Ligonier, IN, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2016 at Avalon Village in Ligonier, IN. She was born September 4, 1946 the daughter of Robert and Edith (Keister) Vance in Wolf Lake, IN.  On March 16, 1968 she married Richard Lengacher in Ligonier, IN; he preceded her in death on May 6, 1986.

She is survived by two children, Dawn  Freeman of Ligonier, IN, Deanne (Brian) Woody of Syracuse, IN; six grandchildren, Courtney (Andy) Pyle, Logan Freeman, Luke Baker, Brandon, Bryce, and Carter Woody, one great-grandchild along with one on the way.  Three sisters, Cindy (Brian) Rasler, Karen (Les) Hamell, Susan Vance along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Edith Vance and her late husband, Richard Lengacher.

Barb enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing cards, going out to eat with friends and being with her family. She worked for 30 + years at Ligonier Elementary as the Head Cook and Custodian and was also a great softball coach during the summertime.  She will be missed due to her infectious smile and superb attendance at her grandchildren’s sports games.

A Funeral service will be held in Barb’s honor on Friday December 23, 2016 at 10AM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767.  Larry Baker will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 2PM – 4PM and 6PM – 8PM at the funeral home.
