Roalice F. James, 81, of Ligonier, died on July 26, 2009 at 11:40 PM at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend of natural causes. She was born on December 6, 1927 to Earl & Callie (Dotson) Wheatley in Wise, Virginia. She married Joe James on May 15, 1946 in Whitesburg, KY. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Roalice moved from Sandusky, OH to the area in 1965. She retired from Essex Wire in Ligonier. She also attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier.
She is survived by 1 son: Jeffrey (Lynn) James of Topeka, 2 daughters: Glenna Fay (Jim) Clark of Ligonier, Jo Etta "Jody" (Sam) Stump of Ligonier; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a sister: Earline Blankenbecler of Ligonier. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 daughter: Martha Ann Coburn, 1 grandaughter: Christina Hilker, and a brother: J.D. Wheatly.
A funeral service will be held on Friday July 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier with Reverend Jimmy Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. A viewing will be held on Thursday July 30, 2009 from 3-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association- P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
