Joann K. Burchett

Joann K. Burchett, age 64, of Butler, IN passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 16, 2009 at Dekalb Memorial Hospital from an apparent heart attack. She was born on December 15, 1944 in Topeka, IN to Malinda Gingerich. She married Boyd Marlin Sather. He preceded her in death in 1983. She moved to Butler, Indiana in 2005 coming from Florida where she had resided for over 30 years.

Joann worked most of her life as a waitress. She attended Butler New Life Christian Church in Butler, IN. Joann was a very talented singer and yodeler. While living in Florida she often performed at charity events with the band Wildfire for the benefit of the Special Olympics. She will be missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her and her wonderful baking and cooking.

She is survived by 2 sons: Marlin Sather of Wachula, FL; Dayle Sather of Butler, IN; 1 grandaughter: Wendy Sather of Hicksville, OH; 2 great-grandaughters: Jade & Amber of Hicksville, OH; several cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son: Richard H. Sather in 1993 and her brother: Floyd Ray Steury in 1986.

There will be a memorial service in her honor on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 4 PM at Maple Grove Church-806 S. Main St. in Topeka, IN with Pastor Harold Gingerich officiating.
