Tom Steele

Tom Steele, age 61, of Kimmell, IN passed away Sunday July 5, 2009, at 11:10 PM, at his residence.

Tom moved to the area at the age of 20 coming from Norton, Virginia.

He was a custodian at the West Noble School Corporation for over 12 years and had worked for Kimmel Bulldozing for several years.

Tom was a member of the V.F.W. in Wolf Lake and former member of the Ligonier Eagles. He was an officer at the Kimmell Baseball League. He loved to umpire and attend ball games. Tom was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He served his country honorably in the Army during Vietnam from 1967-1969 in the 82nd Airbourne Division.

He was born December 14, 1947 to Junis and Helen (Brickey) Steele. He married Rita Shisler on July 3, 1976. She survives.

Surviving are 4 children; Kenna (Matt) Cross of Albion, IN, Travis (Stacy) Steele of Kimmell, IN, Toby Steele of Fishers, IN, Gavin (His Fiance, Allison Niespodziany) Steele of Franklin, IN; 2 grandsons; Walker and Trevor; Mother; Helen Steele of Ligonier, IN; 4 brothers; Glen (Flo) Steele of Ligonier, IN, Gary (Pat) Steele of Cromwell, IN, Randy Steele of Ligonier, IN, Kevin Steele of Albion, IN; 1 sister; Mary Steele of Ligonier, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Thursday July 9, 2009, at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier with Pastor Jim Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cememtery, Kimmell.

Calling will be from 2-8 PM, Wednesday July 8, 2009 at the funeral home.
