Robert H. "Bob" Hyndman

Robert H. “Bob” Hyndman, age 75, of Ligonier, IN, passed away unexpectedly, early Saturday morning, September 24, 2016. He was born in Churubusco, IN on December 10, 1940, the son of Joseph and Ruth (Bonar) Hyndman. On November 5, 1960 he married Linda Fitzsimmons in Fort Wayne, IN; she survives.

He is also survived by five children, Jodi Smith of Elkhart, IN, Julie Hyndman of South Bend, IN, Robert (Margie) Hyndman Jr. of Goshen, IN, David (Heidi) Hyndman of Boonville, IN, and Steve Hyndman of Ligonier, IN; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; along with a sister, Jean (Bud) Mendenhall of Fort Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob was a devoted member of Ligonier Evangelical Church where he served in various capacities over the years and was a beloved usher and greeter. Bob was a professional fiberglass man for his entire working life. He was very talented with fiberglass and was well known for making a fiberglass reproduction mold of a 1933 Plymouth. Many of those finished replicas are held and shown by collectors to this day. Bob was also a member of the Boonville Lions Club, a past member of Jaycee’s, and a Boy Scout leader for many years. Bob would help anyone in need and did just that at home and abroad on mission trips with his church. He will always be remembered for his smile and the sound of his whistle.

A funeral service in Bob’s honor will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Troy Diersing will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN.

Family and friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Yeager Funeral Home and from 11 AM until the time of the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ligonier Evangelical Church, 1911 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767.
