Jerry Mangus

J erry Lee Mangus, age 63, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born to the late Roy and Elaine (Claxton) Mangus on November 24, 1952 in Kendallville, IN. On May 31, 1974 he married Cheryl Ann Patrick in Ligonier, IN.

Jerry was a very hard working individual. He worked for 34 years for Thermogas Company and spent the last five years at the Carlex Glass company formerly Guardian. Jerry was a part of the Cromwell/Kimmell Lions Club as well as an active member of the Stones Hill Community Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting matchbox cars, the New York Yankees and Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts sports teams. He was very good at Donald Duck impressions. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and creating memories with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Mangus, his two children: son; Jeremy (Lisa) Mangus of Fort Hood, TX and daughter; Jenny (Michael) Weldy of Pensacola, FL. Grandchildren; Trent Mangus of Los Angeles, CA, Garrett, and Shelbikay Mangus, both of Fort Hood, TX and Cameron Weldy of Stevens Point, WI, Brenden, and Nicholas Weldy, both of Pensacola, FL. Sisters; Vicki (John) Marsh of Kimmell, IN, Marilyn (Bruce) VanTilburg of Fort Wayne, IN and Susan (Daniel) Hague of Albion, IN. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elaine Mangus.

Family and friends will be received from 2PM - 8PM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Stones Hill Community Church – 151 West Stones Hill Road Ligonier, IN 46767. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Church. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate.

A private committal service will take place with the family at the Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center.
