Anita Christner

Anita Christner, age 64, left her home to be with Jesus Friday, July 8, 2016. She was born on June 12, 1952 to Kenneth M. and Marie Y. (Martin) Sheley in Goshen, IN. On June 29, 1968 she married Larry Christner in LaGrange, IN.

Mrs. Christner was a woman of many traits. All the while she kept her interest in the medical field. At one time she was a paramedic and for most of her career she was a medical assistant with the Parkview Physicians Group. Anita also co-owned and operated Nita’s Drive – In and catering service along with a flower shop in Topeka. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Topeka and within the last few years became acquainted with the First Baptist Church of Wolcottville, IN., where she played the piano. She was very active in her love for puzzles and performance art. She spent a lot of time at concerts and really enjoyed her numeric and crossword puzzles, as well as her favorite being anacrostic puzzles, which she spent many hours completing with her husband, Larry. Her children, grandchildren and siblings were loved very much by her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, of 48 years, Larry Christner of Topeka, IN., daughter; Angela (John) Kozinski and their three children; Zoe, John and Mac Kozinski, all of West Chester, PA., son; Kevin Christner and his companion, Angela Clouse of Indianapolis, IN., sister’s; Brenda Carpenter and her companion Larry Treesh of Topeka, IN., Colleen (Mike) Bontrager of Joplin, MO., and brother; Daryl Sheley of Wolcottville, IN.

Anita is preceeded in death by her parents; Kenneth and Marie Sheley and her sister; Leslie Sheley.

A funeral service will be held in Anita’s honor on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:30AM at Topeka Baptist Church; 104 North Street Topeka, IN 46571. Pastor Keith Perry will officiate. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, IN.

Family and friends will be received from 2PM – 4PM and 6PM – 8 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Topeka Baptist Church.
