Doris E. Sedgwick

Doris died June 17, 2016 in Nokomis, FL. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) K. Sedgwick. Doris was born July 16, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved to Zion, Illinois with her family, graduated from Zion High School and business school. Doris met Bob on a blind date when he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base. They married on July 1, 1944. After WWII ended they settled in Ligonier, Indiana where they opened Ulrey-
Sedgwick Funeral Home. They later retired to Bayonet Point, Florida. Doris was active in the Presbyterian Church Choir and Ladies Association, The Eastern Star, and the Noble County Republican Party. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed bridge and being a homemaker. Doris was predeceased by her parents, brothers Laurel and Maurice and sister Hazel Butler. She is survived by her daughters, Caryl Sandler and Rose Acton, her son-in-law Howard Sandler, grandson Robert Action, granddaughter Elizabeth O’Neill (Sean) and great-grandson Braden O’Neill. A graveside service will be held at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana at 11:00am, June 24,2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be gratefully appreciated if made in her name to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Department, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34238.
