Matthew Tyler Mickem

Matthew Tyler Mickem, age 29, of Syracuse, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at home. He was born to Bert Mickem and Melissa Sroufe on February 27, 1987 in Goshen, Indiana. Matt attended Wawasee Middle School and Fairfield High School. He was a huge Jeff Gordan fan and had passion for anything Pepsi. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Matt is survived by his parents, Melissa Sroufe of Syracuse and Bert (Melissa Staton) Mickem of Syracuse; a brother, Nathan (Chelsey) Mickem of North Webster; a sister, Cassidy (Tim Loughlin) Mickem of Elkhart; and maternal grandparents, Herbert and Lorraine Lent. He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Jim Sroufe and paternal grandparents, Albertis and Lula Mickem. A funeral service in Matt’s honor will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Harlan Steffen will officiate. Friends and family will be received from 4 to 6 PM prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in c/o Yeager Funeral Home.
