Jay C. Ratliff, 73, of Topeka, IN, passed away unexpectedly on April 04, 2016, at home. He was born July 27, 1942 the son of Topsy and Leone (Fairchild) Ratliff. On February 1, 1975, he married Hollie Stearns in Gloversville, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Hollie Ratliff of Topeka, IN; three children, Hollie Gean (John) Rieth of Goshen, IN, Peggy (Dallas) Mishler of Howe, IN, and Shari Henson of Urbana, OH; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two cats; a dog, Molly; two grand-dogs, and three grand-cats who all loved him dearly; a sister, Ella Ratliff of Denver, KY; 3 half-sisters, Mary, Ollie, and Martha; and a half-brother, Lawrence all of Kentucky. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by, his parents; two infant children, Faith and Matthew; brothers, Frank, Obie, Leander, Ova Charles, and Holly; and sisters, Hattie, Dicie, and Dixie.
Jay graduated from Oil Springs High School in 1961 and worked for many years in the RV Industry retiring from Starcraft Industries in Topeka, IN in 2008. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ligonier and enjoyed Nascar, cooking and more than anything, being with his family.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 12 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Kevin Dekonick of Topeka United Methodist. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery in Topeka, IN.
Family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to a local Humane Society in honor of Jay's love for animals.
