Billy Henry Carter Sr.

Billy Henry Carter Sr. 62, of Edison Ave. SOUTH BEND was called home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family.

Billy Carter was born November 22, 1953 to the union of Andrew and Ruby Lee Carter in the Hayti, Missouri. Mr. Carter worked 25 years with Morris Civic Performing Arts Center in the Maintenance Dept., Many faithful years of service with the South Bend Housing Authority and retired from Aramark Uniforms after 16 years of employment. Fishing, bowling and playing the Wii filled Mr. Carter's days of retirement.

Brother Billy Carter answered his calling and served as a faithful member of New Bethel Tabernacle Church under the founder and leadership of
Elder Ardell Sanders and his successor Bishop Cecil Golder Jr. for over forty-four years. He could be seen praising God on the Usher Board, singing in the choir stand and helping out with the Brotherhood Ministry.

On August 21, 1976 Mr. Billy Carter and Marlene Carter united into Holy Matrimony which lasted 39 years, 7 months and two days of happy memories.

Mr. Carter leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Marlene, one daughter Tulani (Micheal) Harrison and three Sons Billy (BJ) Carter Jr., Curtis (Shanta) Carter and Micah Carter, Three grandchildren that he loved dearly Robert, Bramaya and Baby Jeremy. Five sisters Betty (Sam) Kariuki of Cassoplis, MI, Laura McKnight of South Bend, IN, Vira Carter of Indianapolis, IN, Ruby Patterson and Virginia Tallie Both of Chicago, IL , One brother Jimmy Carter.

Billy Carter was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers: Joe, Charles, Andy, Larry Joe, Earl and Ervin Carter and one special nephew Arthur.

Home Going Celebration Services are Saturday March 5, 2016. Viewing 12:30 PM and Funeral 1:30PM at New Bethel Tabernacle Church followed by Burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The Honorable Bishop Cecil Golder Jr. will be officiating.
