Harley E. Blake

Harry E. Blake, 84, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Parkview Lagrange Hospital in Lagrange unexpectedly as the result of natural causes. He was born May 10, 1924 in Topeka, IN to Harley F. & Mildred (Koher) Blake. On July 30, 1949, he married Delorma Carlson, she survives.

Harley was a lifelong area resident and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1984 after over 43 years. He was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School, served his country during WWII in the Army and enjoyed Lionel Trains.

He is survived by his wife; Delorma, 1 Brother; Edward (Anita) Blake of Vacaville, CA, 1 Sister; Sharon (Paul) VanEck of Holland, MI, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, and a close friend Jake Clemens of Coldwater, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents & 1 Brother: Robert Blake.

A private family visitation and service will be held at Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier, IN with the Reverend Larry Byrnes Officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery in Topeka. Memorial Contributions may be made to the LaGrange County Animal Shelter- 114 W. Michigan St. LaGrange, IN 46746.
