Oma L. Messer, age 74, of Wawaka, IN passed away after fighting a long courageous battle, on the evening of November 17, 2015. She was born on September 25, 1941, the daughter of Kendall and Olive (Patton) Griffith of Garrett, Kentucky. On July 30, 1971 she married Flem J. Messer; he survives. Also surviving are her children, Rick Johnson of Ligonier, IN, Johnny Messer of Inez, KY, Betty Gullion of Chillicothe, OH, Tiffany (Kevin) Malcolm of Avilla, IN, David (Jodi) Messer of Albion, IN; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Kenneth (Lucy) Griffith of Topeka, IN, James Griffith of Ligonier, IN, and Wendy Griffith of Fort Wayne, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Flem Messer Jr.; her parents; siblings, Carmeline “Candy” Cooper and Bufford Griffith; and a son-in-law, Robert Gullion. Oma retired from Parker Hannifin in Ligonier after 22 years of faithful service. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier and was loved by everyone that met her. A memorial service in Oma’s honor will held at 1PM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Ligonier, IN. Pastor Jimmy Shepherd will officiate. Family and friends will be received from 11AM – 1PM prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
