John D. “Big John” Moore, 69, of Bear Lake
in Albion, died at 3:43 a.m. Feb. 10, 2009 at
Avalon Village Nursing Home, Ligonier after an
extended illness.
He was born Nov. 7,
1939 in Dunkirk, the son of
Fred & Thelma (Weaver)
Moore.On Sept. 17, 2001 he
married Deloris E. Hirsch
and was a lifelong area
resident.
He worked for Dana
Corporation and retired in
1995 after more than 30
years of service. He was a
member of the Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Moore of
Bear Lake; one son, Shane (companion Sharon
Dotson) of Ligonier; one daughter, Lisa (Leo)
Vivaldo of Goshen; four stepsons, Michael
(Karen) Hirschy of Portland, Kevin (Dorene)
Hirschy of Monroe, Stewart Hirschy of Bluffton
and Olen Hirschy of New Haven; five grandchildren,
15 step-grandchildren and five great-step
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three
brothers and two sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589
Lincolnway South, Ligonier, with Pastor James
Haugen, officiating.
A private family burial will take place at
Riverside Cemetery, Geneva.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday and one hour prior to the funeral service
at the funeral home.
