Lowell D. Galloway, age 84, of Kendallville, IN passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:40 AM at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, IN. He was born on June 30, 1931 to Harvey and Bernice (McFarren) Galloway in Cromwell, IN. On August 31, 1972 Lowell married Denice Baker-Linn. She survives. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1949 and enlisted with the National Guard for 3 years and then enlisted with the United States Air Force where Lowell served his country honorably for 20 years before retiring. Lowell received Administrative Training in the Air Force and also attended the University of Alabama and IPFW. Mr. Galloway worked for 7 years on the Wabash Railroad and 16 years with the Indiana Toll Road while farming his homestead. Lowell was a member of the Sparta United Church of Christ, the Albion American Legion, and the Wolf Lake VFW. He loved being on his tractor, was invited for Cubs tryouts, he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, was a curious person and had a passion for travel-visiting 37 countries and all 50 states. Lowell was on a submarine with his youngest son and drove the submarine. He was a happy Colts fan and a disappointed Cubs fan. He enjoyed playing cards and collecting coins. Surviving are his wife, Denice; three children, Allen Cem (Karen Vance) Galloway of Indianapolis, Selma Yesim (Don) Krone of Scottsdale, AZ, Lorne David (Laura Miller) Galloway of Orlando, FL; step son Dennis Linn of Ligonier; two step daughters, Lisa McClanahan of Montrose, CO, and Marcy (Jeff) Coe of Kendallville,; 7 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren; sister, Rosanne Lackey; sister-in-law, Dorothy McFarren; and foster sister-in-law, Rosemary Gillespie . He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Lester, and Lewis; two sisters, Eugenia and Marvel; brothers-in-law, Max McFarren and Donald Gillespie ; and son-in-law, Bob McClanahan. A funeral service will be held in Mr. Galloway’s honor on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10 AM at Sparta United Church of Christ, 2584 North US 33, Kimmell, IN 46760 with Rev. Wray McCalester officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN. There will be a time of visitation on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
