Richard C. Saggars

Richard C. Saggars, age 84, of Ligonier, IN passed away January 26, 2009 at 10:45 PM at Northridge Village Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Albion, IN.


He was born Feb.12, 1924 in Lagrange County to Jacob and Madge (Rowe) Saggars.


He graduated from Topeka High School where he was the valedictorian and class president.
He was a lifetime area resident and a local farmer for more than 70 years.

He married Elizabeth E. Rensberger Sept.7, 1946. She survives.


Also surviving are his three children, Janet (Robert) Viars, Brownsburg, Linda Davis, Fort Wayne, and Tom (Ann) Saggars, Angola; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Stacey) Viars, Fishers, Lauren (Roland) Isaacs, Anderson, Brad (Liz) Davis, Fort Collins, Colo., Kara (Brent) Baumann, Indianapolis, Ryan (Kari) Davis, Denver, Colo., Andrew Saggars and Nicholas Saggars, both of Angola; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.


Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, Ligonier. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 10 AM funeral service Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Brad Cox will lead the service. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery, Topeka.


Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
