Helen B. Hagen

April 23, 1929 — January 15, 2009

Helen B. Hagen, age 79, a resident of Anna Maria Island, FL., formerly of Ligonier passed away unexpectedly as the result of natural causes on January 15, 2009 at 12:13 AM at her summer home on Lake Wawasee.

In 1997 she was given a second chance at life when she received a kidney from her sister Barbara. Helen was proud of her sister’s act of kindness and the health it brought.

On April 23, 1929 in Chicago, IL she was born to Wiley and Helen (Polfer) Stone. On May 13, 1951 in Morocco, IN she married Rex Hagen, he survives.

She was a dedicated homemaker & had been involved with the family business, Superior Sample since its inception in 1957

Helen moved to Ligonier in 1957 where she resided until 1994 at which time she & her husband became residents of Anna Marie Island, FL & spent summers at Lake Wawasee.

She was a member of Ligonier United Methodist Church & had also been involved in various civic organizations over the years. She loved playing tennis, golf, & bridge. She also enjoyed entertaining guest & was a great cook. She will always be remembered for her love of her family, dedication to the community & passion for Purdue.

Helen is survived by her husband: Rex Hagen; 1 Daughter: Nancy Beth (Rich) Stage of Big Sky, Montana;
1 Son: Mark David (Jeanna) Hagen of Cromwell; 4 Grandchildren: Cole Douglas Stage, McKenzie Grace Stage, Katie Beth Hagen, Nick Hagen, & Sam Hagen; 3 Sisters and 1 Brother.

She was preceded in Death by 2 Brothers and her Parents.

A Memeorial Service will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Ligonier United Methodist Church- Ligonier, IN with Pastor Michael Heinbaugh Officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date.

Friends may call Saturday, January 17, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN.
Memorial Contributions may be made payable to West Noble Food Pantry.
