Emma Marie Yoder

Emma Marie (Barkman) Yoder, age 87, of LaGrange, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 7:35 AM at home. She was born on March 25, 1928 to Samuel and Lena (Plank) Barkman in Hicksville, OH. On October 22, 1946 Emma married Jacob J. Yoder. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by seven sons, Alvin (Miriam) Yoder of Shipshewana, Freeman (Susie) Yoder of Middlebury, Amos Jay (Rachel) Yoder of LaGrange, Martin (Mary) Yoder of Middlebury, Harvey (Rachel) Yoder of Ligonier, Jacob Jr. (Barbara) Yoder of LaGrange, and Paul (Rosella) Yoder of Ligonier; four daughters and one daughter-in-law, Esther (Samuel) Yoder of Shipshewana, Margaret (Jonas) Yoder of Millersburg, LeAnna (Crist) Miller of Topeka, Rosetta (Jerry) Miller of LaGrange, and (Sam) Arlene Yoder of Wolcottville; 72 grandchildren; 228 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Monroe Barkman of Topeka, Enos Barkman of Middlefield, OH, Melvin Barkman of Goshen; and one sister, Mary Kathryn (Gilbert Lee) Miller of Nappanee; one sister-in-law, Miriam Bontrager of Wolcottville. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob J. Yoder; daughter, Magdalena Yoder; son, Samuel Yoder; five grandchildren, Anthony, Joel, Leon, Heidi Ann, Jami; and one great-grandson, Luke Jon.

There will be a funeral service held in Mrs. Yoder’s honor on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Jacob Jr. Yoder residence, 3005 West 100N, LaGrange, IN 46761 with Bishop Wilbur Bontrager and the Home Ministers officiating. Burial will be in Mast Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.

A time of visitation will be Friday, May 1, 2015 after 2 PM and all day Saturday at Jacob Jr. Yoder residence, 3005 West 100N, LaGrange, IN 46761.
