Betty J. Leslie

Betty J. (Reese) Leslie of Kimmel, IN joined her heavenly father and husband Saturday, April 18, 2015. She was born in Elkhart County June 10, 1928 and raised by her foster parents John and Maude Reese of Ligonier, IN. She was raised on their farm east of Ligonier, and a 1946 graduate of Ligonier High School. Betty married Charles W. Leslie on June 22, 1946. They had shared a glorious 68 years of marriage of enjoying their faith, life, family and friends. He preceded her in death four weeks prior. Betty retired in 1990 after 21 years of service for Dana Corp, Churubusco. She also engaged in farming with her husband on her old home stead in their early years of marriage, and then drove milk truck with her husband before joining Dana Corp. She was family oriented, spending time with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Charles enjoyed auctions, collecting antiques, glassware, traveling, and flower gardening. She also was president of Ligonier High School Alumni for many years. Betty is survived by a son, John (Norma) Leslie of Michigan, a Daughter, Ramona (Mona) (Joe) Myers of Columbia City, IN. 4 grandchildren, Jason (Annette) Arnold of South Whitley, IN, Stephanie (Jonathan) Berkowitz of California, Renee (Scott) Workman of Warsaw, IN, and Angie (George) Smith of Warsaw, IN. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. There will be a funeral service in Mrs. Leslie’s honor on Saturday April 25, 2015 at 1:00pm with visitation 1 hour prior at Yeager Funeral Home 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 with Celebrant Larry Baker Officiating. Burial will take place at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmel, IN. A time of visitation will be on Friday April 24, 2015, from 4pm-8pm at Yeager Funeral Home.
