Bishop Mervin M. Miller, age 74, of Ligonier, IN passed away at home on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. He was born on July 23, 1940 the son of Mose N. and Emma (Lehman) Miller. On October 13, 1960, he married Vera Yoder.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Miller of Ligonier, IN; three children, Dewayne J. (Ida Mae) Miller of Millersburg, IN, Loretta Sue (Harley) Yoder of Ligonier, IN, and Ernest E. (Ruthann) Miller of Topeka, IN; twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Harley J. (Wilma) Miller of Goshen, IN; three sisters, Mary (Manas Jr.) Bontrager of Topeka, IN; Ida Mae (David F.) Yoder of Shipshewana, IN, and Ruby (Amos) Lehman of Goshen, IN; and a sister-in-law, Anna Marie Miller of Millersburg, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Ervin Miller; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and had served as a Bishop in the church since 1982.
A funeral service will begin at 9:30 on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Willis R. Miller residence, 4654 W 1100 N, Ligonier, IN 46767. Bishop Daniel Miller and the home ministers will lead the service. Grandsons will be pallbearers and burial will take place at Clearspring Cemetery, Topeka, IN
Family and friends will be received after 2 PM on Thursday, January 1, 2015 and all day Friday, January 2, 2015 at the family residence, 4759 W 1100 N, Ligonier, IN 46767.
