Merle S. Yoder

Merle S. Yoder, age 74, of Topeka, IN passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Parkview Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on May 26, 1940 to Henry and Katherine (Miller) Yoder in Kalona, Iowa. On December 17, 1966 he married Leah Yoder, she survives.



He received his high school GED in 1963. He had worked as a truck driver for forty years and retired in 2005 from Heartland Express of Iowa City, Iowa. He enjoyed NASCAR and followed the Earnhart Racing Team, and collected Allis Chalmers toy tractors.



Surviving are his wife, Leah of Topeka; a son, Meredith (Heather) Yoder of Fort Wayne; a grandson Tyler Yoder of Churubusco; four step-grandchildren, Tyler, Britny, Lexi, and Jayden; five siblings, Eileen (Ray) Gooch of Grand Junction, CO, Mary (Dennis) Grimm of Kalona, Iowa, Corrine (Dennis) Walker of Riverside, Iowa, Loran (Diane) Yoder, and Kent (Rhonda) Yoder both of Lone Tree, Iowa.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his father 1998 and his mother in September 2014.



A funeral service will be held in Mr. Yoder’s honor on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 11 AM at The Topeka Mennonite Church with Rev. Larry Byrnes officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka, IN.



There will be a time of visitation on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 4-8 PM at The Topeka Mennonite Church, 206 E. Lake Street, Topeka IN 46571.
