Connie Ray

Connie Ray, age 74, of Syracuse, IN passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at home. She was born on May 18, 1940 to Russell and Reba (Senff) Bellman in Millwood, IN. On December 24, 1964 Connie married Jerry E. Ray. He survives. She graduated from Bremen High School in 1958 & went on to work as a counselor at the Indiana State School for the Deaf. She was a member of the Albion Eastern Star and thoroughly enjoyed Purdue basketball and football. Connie loved her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband; three children, Shaun L. (Matthew) Mawhorter, Shane E. (Lisa) Ray, Stacy L. (Travis) Steele; seven grandchildren, Blake Mawhorter, Brooke Mawhorter, Bridget Mawhorter, Madison Ray, Alison Ray, Walker Donley, and Trevor Steele; and a sister Cindy (Melvin) Coyle. A funeral service will be held in Mrs. Ray’s honor on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11 AM at Yeager Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN. There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 3-7 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Indiana State School for the Deaf or Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital Fund.
