Leona Mae Wysong

Leona Mae (Drake) Wysong, 82, of Wawaka, went to be with her Lord on February 7, 2014. She was born on December 11, 1931 in DeKalb County, IN to Hugh and Geneva (Lochner) Drake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert (Bob) Wysong, a daughter, Jane, 2 Sisters, Bernice Strong and Betty Pence, a brother, Frank Drake, 2 grandchildren, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law.

Leona was a member of the Cosperville Baptist Church and enjoyed working on the family farm. She was an avid follower of her family’s sporting events and the White Sox. She belonged to the Elkettes Homemakers Club. She spent her final years touching many lives with her card ministry.

Surviving are four children: Phil (Violette) Wysong of Wawaka, IN, Jean (Keith) Porter of Hillsdale, MI, Kay Mayo of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jay (Sandy) Wysong of Wawaka, IN; 12 Grandchildren: Lucy (Jaer) Cardenas, Dorothy (Elliott) Cohee, Chuck (Marta) Wysong, Jeffrey (Jen) Wysong, Jody (Fred) Saunders, Jake (Kris) Porter, Julie (Todd) Rupp, Catherine (Brian) Byars, Nick (Liz) Mayo, Jill Mayo, Melissa (Hollis) Troxel, and Mitch (Erica) Wysong; and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
Also surviving are sisters and brother-in-law: Mildred Rose, Doris (Thad) Price, Helen (Cal) Knapp, Beverly (Marv) Sponhaur, Max (CeCe) Wysong and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday February 10, 2014 from 4-8 P.M. at Yeager Funeral Home 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. A funeral service in her honor will be on Tuesday February 11, 2014 at Cosperville Baptist Church 8851 N. 250 W, Wawaka, IN at 11 A.M. Pastor Jim Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Cosperville Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Cosperville Baptist Church New Structure Fund.
