Nada Gaff

Nada Brown-Gaff passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 in Ligonier, IN at the age 95. She was born on January 26, 1918 in Noble County, IN to Melvin & Ella D. (Keister) Wright.

After graduating from Cromwell High School in 1936, she married A. DeCaroll Brown in New Haven, IN on June 15, 1937; he preceded her in death in 1990. On October 16, 1993 she married Robert M. Gaff in Ligonier; he preceded her in death in 2009.

Nada had been a member of the Ligonier Evangelical Church. She was the former owner of Brown’s Clothing and had worked for Essex wire and Heintzelman’s Grocery Store in Cromwell.

She is survived by a daughter, Sammie (Marvin) Zelt of Fort Wayne, IN; two step-daughters, Julie Gaff and Lucille Gaff, both of Warsaw, IN; six step-sons, Neal (Kathy) Gaff of Angola, IN, Monte (Nancy) Gaff of Churubusco, IN, Lyle (Terri) Gaff of Elkhart, IN, Martin (Sally) Gaff of Kouts, IN, Jack (Debbie) Gaff of LaGrange, IN, and Douglas (Rebecca) Gaff of Rolling Prairie, IN; one step-son-in-law, Victor Hiatt, LaGrange, IN; one sister Melva (Bernard) Wolf of Marshall, MI; three grandchildren Douglas (Tina) Zelt of Roanoke, IN, Gregory (Angela) Zelt of Fort Wayne, IN, and Laura (Brett) Helmkamp of Avilla, IN; eight great-granchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Decaroll and Robert, four sisters and one brother.

A funeral service will be held in Nada’s honor at Ligonier Evangelical Church, 1911 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 on Monday October 7 at 11 AM with Rev. Hubert Harriman and Rev. David Kushman officiating. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmel.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 from 2-6 PM and one hour prior to the beginning of the funeral service.
