Russell T. Bertram

Russell T. Bertram, 88, of Cromwell, passed away at 11:10 P.M. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Avalon Village in Ligonier. He was born on September 1, 1924 in Syracuse, IN to Russell Henry and Ann Jane (Hynes) Bertram. He married Gloria Werker on June 30, 1946 in Kimmell, IN. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2006. He is survived by a son, Roger (Linda) Bertram of Cromwell, IN and 2 daughters, Edith Van Houten of Fort Wayne, IN and Dawn (Robert) Ray of Churubusco, IN. 3 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive. He graduated from Cromwell High School and then spent 3 years serving his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He was employed briefly at Harper’s Hardware before becoming a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Sparta Church of Christ. He was a member of Stone’s Trace Historical Society for 30 years. He was a member of The Clock Association, Chapter 26. He was a past Commander of the Cromwell American Legion and later, a member of the Ligonier American Legion. A funeral service in his honor will be at 11 A.M Monday, April 15, 2013 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor CurryAnne Hostetler will officiate. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home.
