Walter G. Earl, 87, of Cromwell, passed away at 10:45 P.M. Thursday April 4, 2013 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. He was born on October 10, 1925 in Woodbury Falls, NY to John Gilbert and Sarah (Jones) Earl. He married Margaret Norton on December 17, 1954 in Kansas City, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Cromwell and 4 daughters: Crista Earl of New York, NY, Janette DeBoissiere of Columbia, MD, Karen Luehrs of Wilmot, IN and Diane Earl of Ft. Wayne, IN. 5 Grandsons also survive. Mr. Earl has 2 sisters surviving: Irene Sauer of Salisbury Mills, NY and Edith Dugan of Charleston, WVA. He was preceded in death by 7 sisters.
Mr. Earl served his country honorably in WWII in the United States Navy. He lived in Ft. Wayne, IN for nearly 40 years and was active in the Civil Rights Movement. He was Director of the East Wayne Street Center before owning his business, WE Supply in Ft. Wayne, IN for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and he grew vegetables for the Ligonier Food Pantry for several years.
A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center in Ligonier.
