Kay R. Shearer, 76, of Ligonier, passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2013 at Parkview Noble Hospital. She was born on April 1, 1936 in Wolf Lake, IN to Bruce & Ruth (Knox) Taylor. She married Douglas Shearer on February 17, 1951 in Ligonier. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2003. She is survived by 4 sons and a daughter: Michael E. (Cheri) Shearer, Mark D. (Kimberly) Shearer, Martin J. (Kathy) Shearer, Mitchell E. (Linda) Shearer and Becky R. (Oscar) Jackson. 13 Grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. 3 Brothers and a sister survive: Tom (Diane) Taylor, Kent (Jackie) Taylor, Tim (Kim) Taylor and Nancy Donat. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda K. Wilson. She belonged to the Eagles Auxiliary, the Ligonier Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Ligonier Historical Society. She was an avid bowler and card player. She was the former owner of Shearer’s Ceramics Studio in Ligonier. She was an antique dealer for many years. She loved to collect and paint dolls, pictures or just about anything. A funeral service in her honor will be Saturday March 23, 2013 at 11 A.M. at Yeager Funeral Home. Rev. /Dr. Greggory Lanzen of First Baptist Church of Goshen will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell. Friends may call Friday evening from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Ligonier Historical Society, 503 S Main St, Ligonier, IN 46767.
