Clifford C. Pettit

Clifford C. Pettit, 88, of Ligonier passed away at 4:03PM on March 6, 2013 at Avalon Village in Ligonier. He was born on September 7, 1924 in Bucyres, OH to Cannes and Ida (Brause) Pettit. On December 21, 1948 he married Susan Anderson in Chicago, IL; she preceded him in death in January 2007. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and also honorably served his county in the Coast Guard & Merchant Marine. Clifford was a very successful entrepreneur throughout the years and is well remembered as the owner of Pettit Department Store in Ligonier along with several other businesses. For many years he served as the president of the Ligonier Industrial Development Association & served for over 50 years in the Ligonier Rotary Club with 25 years perfect attendance. He was also a member of Experimental Aircraft Association, the American Legion, & the Ligonier Presbyterian Church. Clifford is survived by three sons, Steven (Beth) Pettit of Goshen, David (Deb) Pettit of Angola and John Pettit of Ligonier; two brothers, Robert Pettit of Lafayette, LA and Marion Pettit of Lancaster, MA; two sisters, Jeann Rowell of Springfield, MO and Mary (Earl) Kocher of Bucyres, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Paul. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 with Pastor Steve Mullin officiating the service. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial donations may be directed to the Ligonier Presbyterian Church, 407 S.
