George L. Hontz

George Lewis Hontz, 76, of Ligonier, IN, passed away at 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born on December 24, 1936 in Warsaw, IN to Ralph and Lillie (Tom) Hontz. He married Linda Murphy on June 10, 1972. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and a son, Terry (Donna) Hontz, all of Ligonier, IN. A sister, Darlene (Sonny) Myers of Columbia City, also survives. Mr. Hontz is also survived by his grandpuppy, Ace, whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lillie Hontz, and 2 brothers, Curtis and Tom Hontz. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents. Mr. Hontz worked at Georman McDonald for 8 years and Lyon & Greenleaf (now Star of the West Flour Mill) for 36 years. He was also employed at Owen’s Super Market for 6 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and travelling. He had a wonderful sense of humor. You knew George loved you if he picked on you. A funeral service in his honor will be on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Ligonier Evangelical Church at 10 A.M. Pastors John Lutton and Troy Diersing will officiate. Burial will be in Thorn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
