Charles 'Chuck' L. Smith

Charles L. “Chuck” Smith Jr. passed away at his residence in Cromwell, IN on Friday, October26, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born on September 11, 1929 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of Charles L & Inatha Smith Sr. On February 17, 1975 he married Hazel Wallace; she preceded him in death on March 18, 2010.

He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Tom) Nichodemus of Ligonier; two grandchildren, Thomas Klatt of Ligonier and Adam Klatt of Albion; one sister, Barbara (Ralph) Peterson of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Smith; two children, Cheryl & Chuckie, and his parents.

Chuck was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Korean War. He retired from Monsanto in Ligonier after over 30 years of service. He later retired again from Newell of Albion. Chuck enjoyed being outside and loved animals and children.

A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier. In keeping with Chuck’s wishes no public visitation or services are planned.
