Many knew him as “Lucky.” He resided in Wolcottville, IN, wintered in Sebring, FL, and was formerly a resident of Ligonier. Lindy graduated from Cromwell High School in 1945. He was a member of the men’s basketball team who had a great season and went on to win the sectional. After school, Lindy joined the Army and served as a military policeman in the Korean War, guarding prisoners, who liked him and called him “Mac.” Lindy enjoyed watching sports, especially professional baseball and the Chicago Cubs, fishing, being outdoors, and his family. He was known for his sense of humor and for making sure everyone was having a good time. He is survived by his daughter Pamela (Russell) Wallace of Tulsa, OK and his son, Jeffrey McLallin of Clovis, CA; five grandchildren, Ryan Bales, Jamie Bales, Hanna Wallace, Abby McLallin and Doug McLallin; five great-grandchildren, Nolan, Quinn, Mason, Kylee, and Cameron Bales; and two sisters, Bonita Geiger of North Webster and Joan Spencer of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Bales, parents, and two brothers, Justin & Gerald McLallin. A funeral service will be held in Lindy’s honor on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 with Rev. Dick Rensner officiating. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell, IN where military honors will be conducted. A visitation will be held on Saturday November 3, 2012 from 1-3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
