Rodger A Edsall

Rodger A. Edsall, 74, of Kimmell, IN, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 31, 1938 at Silver Lake in Albion, IN to Elza & Ella (Wakeman) Edsall. He married Jerron Shank. She survives with two sons, Steven (Kay) Edsall of Kimmell, IN and Brian (Jeri) Edsall of Kimmell, IN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mike, Angie, Chad and Tara Edsall; one great-grand daughter, Kaylee Morris; three brothers and two sisters; Buddy Edsall of Albion, IN, Terry (Concessa) Edsall of Brimfield, IN, Gary (Carol) Edsall of Albion, IN, Gloria Grimm of San Diego, CA and Carol Ann (John) Williamson of Ft.Wayne, IN. Mr. Edsall was preceded in death by a son, Donald Edsall, and a brother, Ben Edsall and a sister, Betty Jo Beckberger. Rodger graduated from Albion High School in 1956. He worked at the Carpenters Union Local # 232 in Ft. Wayne for several years. He raised Polled Hereford Cattle and raised grain for several years before getting into hogs. He then became a full time hog farmer in Kimmell and continued to raise grain. Rodger’s grandchildren were the light of his life; he loved to attend their sporting events. Rodger enjoyed his automobiles and was known for keeping them immaculate. He was a college basketball fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He and his wife were the first to try many new restaurants. One of Mr. Edsall’s favorite things was the annual Edsall family reunion, where he spent hours cooking and retelling many family stories, as well as enjoying the many generations of family. A funeral service will be held in Rodger’s honor on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 1 PM with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will be in Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery. Calling will be from 1-3 and 5-7 PM Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Yeager Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
