Eugene V. Moser, age 95, of Syracuse passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 2:15 AM at Avalon Village in Ligonier. He was born on October 18, 1916 to Albert and Clara (Meschberger) Moser in Linn Grove, IN. On October 30, 1937 he married Elizabeth “Betty” Blue in New Paris; she preceded him in death on January 19, 2005. Eugene loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his church. He shared many wonderful stories about his childhood; saw many economic and political changes throughout his life. Farming played a major role in his life and he worked hard to keep farmland from being developed beyond agriculture. Eugene owned and operated Over the Road Trucking for many years. He was a member of the Richville United Methodist Church for over 74 years and served as a board member of the former American State Bank. He is survived by one son, Maurice (Judy) Moser of Ligonier; one daughter, Cynthia (Layton) Pergrem of Syracuse; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Mitch) Moser of Fort Wayne, Martin (Faith) Moser of Ligonier, Matthew (Kim) Moser of Kalkaska, MI, Heather (Chris) Fuleki of Wawaka, and Rob (Nicole) Geiger-Pergrem of Syracuse; 15 great- grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; seven brothers, Albert Jr., Carl, Warren, George, Grant, Robert, and Lewis Moser; and one sister, Mary (Moser) Johnson. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767 at 10 AM with Pastor Matthew Moser and Rob Geiger- Pergrem officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home.
