James E. Hile

James E. Hile, age 81, of Ligonier passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Avalon Village. He was born on June 2, 1931to Ben and Hazel (Witmer) Hile in Kendallville. On April 6, 1958 he married Phyllis Hicks, she survives. James graduated from Kendallville High School in 1951 and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was a member of Ligonier Presbyterian Church. He was also a member and previous president of the Ligonier Lion’s Club and also a former member and exalted leader of the Elks. James retired as plant manager from BRC in Ligonier. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Mike Hile of Ligonier, Mitch (Shawn) Hile of Goshen, Marty (Llori) Hile of Greenville, SC and Matt (Paula) Hile of Kendallville; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Edgington of Kendallville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Paul Hile; one sister, Bonnie Smith. A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10 AM with Celebrant Larry Baker and Rev. Stan Wilson officiating at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier with military honors to be conducted by the American Legion Post 243. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 2-6 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the funeral home.
