Doris M. Gard

Doris M. Gard, 90, of Ligonier passed away at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Parkview Noble Hospital. Doris was born October 28, 1921 in Ligonier to John and Ruth Beckner. She married Charles Stewart Gard on July 24, 1937 in Ligonier; he preceded her in death. Surviving are Marilyn Kay Martin of Kimmell, IN.; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Demaris Musser of Cosperville, IN and a brother, Ricky (Shalita) Beckner of Ligonier. Mrs. Gard was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Leonard Gard; a grandson, Monty Gard; a sister; and 3 brothers. Mrs. Gard worked at Essex Wire, Superior Sample and Plax In. in Ligonier, gaining over 50 years of experience in manufacturing. She was also part owner of C & D Diner in Ligonier. She spent her spare time walking, reading and sewing. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 2 PM at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12-2 PM at Yeager Funeral Home Rev. Rachael Bales-Case with Kimmell United Methodist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N.
