Jessie N. Knafel

Jessie N. Knafel, age 73, of Ligonier, IN passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at her residence. She was born on May 7, 1939 to George W. and Hazel E. (Cowell) Coquillard in Syracuse, IN. On March 16, 1957, she married Donald E. Knafel; he preceded her in death on December 16, 1980. Jessie worked at the American Legion Post 243 for many years as the bar manager and she was also a member of the auxiliary. She also attended the CrossWalk in Ligonier. She is survived by four children, Donald E. Knafel and his fiancé Chris Clawson of Kimmell, IN, Debra A. Franks and her fiancé Felix Gene Steele of Ligoner, Ronald E. (Betsy) Knafel of Milford, IN and Randy A. (Tracey) Knafel of Ligonier; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Hazel E. Sawyer of Elkhart, IN, and Shirley (Burt) Bontrager of Winter Haven, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, George W. Jr. & Samuel E. Coquillard; and two sisters, Thelma Hamood and Beulah Shear. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10 AM with Pastor Candy Kaiser officiating at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Burial will follow the service at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam, IN. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Ligonier United Methodist Church Building Fund.
