Nina Case

September 25, 1921 — April 11, 2012

Nina Case, age 90, of Ligonier passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 8:20 PM. She was born on September 25, 1921 in Noble County to Carl & Nellie (Barkley) Schlemmer. On May 30, 1945 she married James W. Case in Monroeville; he preceded her in death on November 17, 1972.

Nina graduated in 1939 from Ligonier High School. She lived in Decatur for several years, but spent most of her life in the Ligonier area. Nina enjoyed going for a quiet walk in the woods, working outside, mowing, raking leaves, shoveling snow, doing cross-word and jigsaw puzzles, and reading.

Nina is survived by two daughters, Susan (Jack) Roher of Ligonier and Barbara Case of Topeka; two grandsons, Jim and Joseph Roher of Ligoner; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Mark) Bentz of Seattle, WA; one brother, Jack (Helen) Schlemmer of Ligonier; one sister, Lila Barkley of California. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents; three sisters, Carolyn Dueseler, Lois Renner and Ester Faye Fisel; and two brothers, Ted Schlemmer and Dick Schlemmer.

A memorial service will be held in Nina’s honor on Sunday April 15, 2012 at 12 noon with Todd Renner officiating at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767. Visitation will be held from 11 AM-12 noon prior to the service at the funeral home. A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center. A graveside service will be held at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
