Arnold Shepherd

Arnold Shepherd, age 75, of Wauseon, OH, formerly of Ligonier passed away on Sunday night, March 18, 2012 at his residence. He was born on June 5, 1936 to Odis and Ethel (Johnson) Shepherd in Prestonsburg, KY. In 1954 he married Oralee Whitaker; they resided on their farm in Claypool, IN for 18 years. In 1974 Arnold married Sandra Wysong; they resided in Ligonier, IN for 30 years until her death in 2005.

He is survived by his loving companion of 2 years, Diana VanHorn of Wauseon, OH; two daughters, Sharon (Fred) Miller of Akron, IN, Holly (Kevin) Ratliff of Albion, IN; three sons, Bernard Shepherd of Claypool, IN, Darrell (Jennifer) Shepherd of Winona Lake, IN, Johnny Farlow of Ligonier, IN; 15 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; and one brother, Donald (Patricia) Shepherd of Ligonier, IN. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra; one grandchild, Amanda Nicole Shepherd; three brothers, Riley Shepherd, Raymond Shepherd and John Shepherd.

He was a farmer in Claypool for 18 years and worked at BRC Rubber in Ligonier and Churubusco for over 20 years. He also worked for Skyline RV in Elkhart, Diamond Rental in Ligonier & the Ligonier Park Department. Arnold enjoyed fishing with his friends and was an avid bluegill fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandkids. He also enjoyed being outdoors and keeping his lawn beautiful. Arnold was a past member of the Ligonier Elks Lodge where he had achieved the level of Exalted Ruler. He was also a member and past president of the Ligonier Lions.

A funeral service will be held in Arnold’s honor at 12 Noon on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South; Ligonier, IN 46767 with Celebrant Larry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, IN.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Yeager Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Fulton County Hospice, 230 Westfield Drive, Archbold, OH 43502.
