Ruby Louise Crider of Etna Green and formerly of Ligonier was born on January 3, 1954 to LeRoy & Bertha (Pierce) Brown in Garrett, IN. She was raised in a happy bustling family of eight children total. Their home was next to a cemetery where they enjoyed playing hide-n-go-seek, snipe hunting and scaring traffic going by. Her family was very active trick riders with many loved horses. Ruby was an excellent barrel racer and graduated from Prairie Heights High School in 1973. After many years of prayer, God blessed Ruby with a son Christopher, a daughter Ruby-Danyelle and her youngest son Joshua. Her every thought and action revolved around her children. She loved seeing her “babies” happy, in love and serving God in her footsteps. Her three grandchildren, Mason, Abigail and Alyssa were the light of her life the past 9 years. Their favorite things to do together were playing “Jelly Belly”, cooking and playing shadow puppets at slumber parties. On Thursday, February 23, 2012 she sustained very serious injuries in an automobile accident. Sunday, February 26, 2012 Jesus welcomed her home, at the age of 58 into her amazing mansion custom built for her. Ruby leaves behind three children and their spouses that she counted as her own; Christopher and Lynae Stienbarger of Etna Green, Ruby Danyelle and Christopher A. Irwin of Etna Green and Joshua and Julie Crider of Elkhart, IN; three grandchildren all at home; six siblings, Sandra “Sandy” Brown of Brushy Prairie, IN, Meredith “Butch” (Peggy) Brown of Wolcottville, IN, Carl “Dutch” (Joyce) Brown of Churubusco, IN , Charles “Babe” Brown of La Grange, IN, Rebecca “Peanut” (Terry) Shreve of Woodland Park, CO, and Donald “Donny” (Vicki) Brown of LaGrange, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David “Davie” Brown. Ruby will be remembered for her smile, contagious laughter, and giggle. She never knew a stranger and would always laugh and talk with anyone. She was the avid family photographer and brought sunshine to all of her “models.” She enjoyed Emmit Kelly Clowns and McCoy Cookie Jars. A home going service will be held in her honor with Pastor Mark Cottrill officiating on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 7PM at Bourbon United Pentecostal Church, 201 N Bourbon St; Bourbon, IN 46504.
