Robert B. Durham

Robert B. Durham, age 75, of Kimmell, IN formerly of Ligonier, IN passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 12:00 PM at his residence. He was born on November 26, 1936 to Medford and Flotilla (Hughes) Durham in Jackson County, IN. On January 20, 1963 he married Shirley J. Miller in Ligonier, IN; she preceded him in death in 2004.

He is survived by a son, Robert B. (Lisa) Durham Jr. of Ligonier, IN; two brothers, Morris (Marge) Durham of Ligonier and Jack Durham also of Ligonier; five sisters, Phyllis Durham of Ligonier, Peggy(Bob) Baker of Cromwell, Patty Schofe of Roanoke, VA, Norma Brewer of Ligonier and Cathy (Howard) Baker also of Ligonier; eight grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter Jacqueline A. Dancy in 2010; four brothers, Tom, John, Bill and Donald; and his parents.

Robert served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He served as Ligonier Chief of Police for many years, and also worked for the Ligonier Street Department for a total of 34 years of service to the city of Ligonier. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 243.

A funeral service will be held in Robert’s honor at Yeager Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10 AM with Reverend John Lutton officiating. Burial will follow at 1 PM at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne, IN where full military honors will be conducted.
