James E. Nicodemus, age 76, of Wawaka, IN passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 3:05AM at Avalon Village in Ligonier, IN. He was born on March 25, 1935 to Franklin Ira & Letha Mae (Zigler) Nicodemus. On January 24, 1960 he married Shirley M. Reichard, she preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by four children; Tom E. (Jennifer) Nicodemus of Ligonier, Randy Nicodemus of Cromwell, Shelley Christine (Larry Skaggs) Nicodemus of Kendallville and Kelly Thomas of Wawaka; eleven grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Musser, James (Joellen) Musser, Tomi (Charles) Hilton, Kory and Kass Nicodemus, Thomas and Adam Klatt, Misty, Michael, Holly, and Jasmin Nicodemus; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister Barbara Burkett of New Hampshire. James served his country honorably in the United States Army and later retired from Dana in Columbia City, IN. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 243 both of Ligonier for many years. James was also a talented mechanic, Nascar and tractor pull enthusiast and he loved to fish. A funeral service will be held in James honor at Yeager Funeral Home on Wednesday February 15, 2012 at 11 AM with Pastor Joey Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion where full military honors will be conducted. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier, IN 46767. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family.
